The Me-Time Mixtape: Three essential hand-curated links and resources on creative self-care. Carve out some me time this week!
#1 Rumi's Poem "The Guest House" Read by Helena Bonham Carter
Does anyone remember 1985's movie, A Room with a View? A teenager at the time, I loved Helena Bonham Carter's prudish, priggish ways as she fought off would-be suiter George Emerson. We all knew how that was going to end, but it was fun to watch poor Lucy succumb to her deep love for George (against all the obstacles and objections she could muster)! 😂
Here's Bonham Carter reading one of my favorite poems by Rumi. She reads "The Guest House" in a beautiful English countryside setting. How can it not be fantastic?
This poem reminds us to hold grace for ourselves as we battle all the unwelcome "guests" who may come into our lives. Let this poem ground us in the possibility that we can handle every guest who comes knocking on our door.
