The Me-Time Mixtape: Three essential hand-curated links and resources on creative self-care. Carve out some me time this week!

Many of you might be surprised to learn that I meditate (for about 15 minutes) just about every day. On the Insight Timer app, I can select a new guided meditation each day, and I love it. Of course, sometimes I meditate on my own, but the app makes it easier to get in the habit of doing these short meditations in the morning. Plus it's fun!

I also recently became an Insight Timer teacher (I'd love a follow if you use the app!) and have released some of my poetry and a caregiver stress reduction course. The caregiver course uses affirmation meditations to promote creative self-care for stressed-out caregivers (like me!)

In today's newsletter, I've got a great resource that breaks down some of the benefits of affirmations (affirmation meditations are one of my favorite types of meditation). Read on to learn more about speaking positivity into existence!

#1 Affirmations Do Make a Difference

IMO the top benefit of affirmations is the positive mindset boost they provide. Life is too hard to stay in the struggle 24/7 and sometimes a self-empowering statement is just what you need to give yourself an energizing lift. We all need a gold star sometimes. ⭐⭐⭐

#2 Summer Self-Care: Eat the Rainbow

As I'm chomping on watermelon, nectars, and cherries, I realize how lucky I am to have this bounty of healthy fruits over the summer, and after a health scare earlier this month, I'm back to my whole food diet in earnest! Here's a great review article on the nutritional value of eating the rainbow. Wishing you good health! πŸ‡πŸ‰πŸŠπŸŽπŸ

#3 Journal Writing Hack: Photo Prompts

I have a ton of journal resources on my website (here), and a new podcast episode on the value of stream-of-consciousness journal writing to help reduce overthinking and worry (here).

But if you're a photo nut, you might find this article interesting. It provides a whole month's worth of ideas for taking photos that you use as journal prompts. In the past, I've used photos, art, and postcards as inspiration for journaling, but this technique takes things one step further by sending you out to take specific photos that you then use as inspiration. Check it out. πŸ“Έ
